Discover our tips on how to use AdBlue® in Opel vehicles
Like many other carmakers, Opel has adopted the SCR system, which uses AdBlue®, for several of its diesel engines. Find out everything you need to know about using AdBlue® in your Opel vehicle.
Opel uses BlueInjection technology in some of its vehicles in an effort to reduce the quantity of nitrogen oxide in the air. This SCR system injects AdBlue® into the exhaust pipe of your passenger car or light commercial vehicle to treat the exhaust fumes and to transform the harmful emissions into nitrogen and steam that are harmless to the environment.
Does my Opel vehicle need AdBlue®?
Several Opel passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are equipped with the BlueInjection technology that uses AdBlue®. They include the following models:
- Zafira
- New Insignia
- Grandland X
- Crossland X
- Movano
- Vivaro
When must I top up my Opel with AdBlue®?
The size of the AdBlue® tank is different in each Opel model. The indicator on the dashboard uses the sensors inside the tank to indicate when the liquid is running low.
Three are three different warnings, showing that you can still drive:
- 2,400 kilometres – an indicator briefly lights up on the dashboard,
- 1,750 kilometres – an indicator light comes on every time you switch on the ignition,
- 900 kilometres – a flashing indicator light reminds you that it is time to top up with AdBlue®.
How to top up the AdBlue® tank in your Opel
Your Opel dealer can fill up the AdBlue® tank for you. But you can also top up with AdBlue® yourself.
A coloured AdBlue® tank filler cap is located next to the fuel filler cap on all Opel models. Never put AdBlue® in the diesel fuel tank, as doing so can cause serious damage to the engine!
You can buy AdBlue® in 5L cans in TotalEnergies service stations. Use the hose provided to pour the liquid into the tank. Certain service stations also have AdBlue® pumps for light vehicles. Never use a pump for heavy goods vehicles, because the flow rate is too high.
