Check out our advice on AdBlue® and how to use it in Peugeot vehicles
Like many other carmakers, Peugeot has developed a device that uses AdBlue® to convert particularly harmful nitrogen dioxides into steam and nitrogen.
This technology, called BlueHDi, combines the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system with a particulate filter that uses additives. This technology treats the exhaust fumes and optimises the combustion settings.
Does my Peugeot need AdBlue®?
Several Peugeot vehicles use AdBlue®. They include the Peugeot 208, 2008, 308, 308 SW, 3008, 508, 5008, Partner Tepee, Traveller, Partner, Expert and Boxer, equipped with the 1.6L BlueHDi or the 2.0L BlueHDi engine.
When must I fill up the AdBlue® tank in my Peugeot?
In Peugeot vehicles, the AdBlue® is stored in a special 17-litre tank. It contains enough AdBlue® to cover about 20,000 kilometres.
When it switches to the reserve AdBlue® tank, a warning light on the dashboard comes on, just like for the fuel. At this point, you can still cover 2,400 kilometres before the tank runs completely dry. When the quantity remaining in the reserve tank reaches a critical level (equivalent to 600km), a range indicator appears, showing how many kilometres you can still drive.
How to top up my Peugeot with AdBlue®
Remember to top up with AdBlue® as soon as possible, because if you run dry, your vehicle will be immobilised, as required by the regulations.
You can top up with AdBlue® yourself, by buying AdBlue® in a TotalEnergies service station or online, for example. If you do this, remember to carefully read the instructions in your vehicle’s handbook.
The AdBlue® tank is accessible in two places, depending on the model of Peugeot vehicle:
- the fuel filler cap,
- the boot.
Once you have filled the tank, the indicator light will go off after driving for a few kilometres.
